Indie label The Roof Records is partnering with Machete Music for four releases this year in the urban mambo genre, including a DVD on the developing style of spoken word over a lightning-quick drumbeat.
The first compilation, “Mambo Factory Vol. 1”, was released Mar. 27 and features up-and-coming Dominican artists such as DJ Ricky, Pacheman & Griselito and Winston Paulino. Next up this summer is a new album by Pacheman y Griselito featuring reggaeton star Tego Calderon.
The Roof’s president Anthony Perez is also working with Elias de Leon’s White Lion Productions, home to Calle 13, on management and booking of the urban mambo acts.
