The Rolling Stones have unveiled their Cuba tour date poster: a flamingo pink-colored vintage car adorned with three iconic tongue-and-lips logos in the place of tail lights. The free historic show in Havana takes place tomorrow (March 25) at Ciudad Deportiva de la Habana.
The band is also asking fans to vote for a song for them to add to their set-list. Fan can make their selection at RollingStones.com from a choice of “You Got Me Rocking,” “Get Off My Cloud,” “She’s So Cold” and “All Down The Line”. Just how successful the poll will pan-out is anyone’s guess. Most households in Cuba do not have Wi-Fi and Internet on the island is very slow, roughly the equivalent of dial-up.
The open air concert marks the first time the Rolling Stones — now in their 54th year — will play the Communist country, which President Obama visited earlier this week. It will be Cuba’s first concert by a British rock band and more than 500,000 people are expected to attend.
“Always exploring new horizons and true pioneers of rock, the Stones, who have toured every corner of the globe, will bring their high octane performance and incredible music catalogue to the Caribbean for the first time ever,” a statement reads on the band’s web site.
The Stones are currently on their America Latina Ole tour, which has played stadiums in Santiago, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio De Janeiro, São Paulo and Porto Alegre. See the Rolling Stones’ official Cuba poster below.
