After 26 years, Rock Bottom Distributing is shutting its doors, reports owner Jeff Scheible. Rather than file for Chapter 11 and have legal fees eat up the estate, Scheible says he is trying to collect Rock Bottom receivables so that he can “make good” to all of the distributed labels.
Some labels have already landed new distribution deals, while others are still looking. “Obviously, the accounts want protection for their inventory,” Scheible says. In some instances where a deal has been worked out the new distributors can take returns and in other instances, Rock Bottom will be honoring its commitment to handle the returns. He says the company will maintain its phone line so that retailers and creditors can reach the company.
Nine jobs will be lost through the shuttering.
