Rock Band is making its comeback.
The interactive music game, which launched in 2007 on the heels of the Guitar Hero series, will release its fourth edition later this year, gamemaker Harmonix announced on March 5. Wannabe rock stars will be able to play Rock Band 4 on PlayStation4 and Xbox One systems, with new features to be revealed in May.
Musicians & Video Games: A Perfect Marriage
Although the Rock Band platform has faltered since MTV Networks bought the brand at the height of its popularity in 2007, it can also lay claim to an impressive library of some 2,000 essential music tracks that fans can play along to — all of which remain available in the new-generation consoles.
More songs are expected to be revealed in the coming months along with new controllers, but in the meantime, Rock Band is offering a free download of the track “I Still Believe” by British singer Frank Turner, playable on PlayStation3 and Xbox360 systems via Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz.
