Opening sales of over 120,000 made “Consciousness” the second-fastest selling artist album of the U.K. chart year, according to the Official Charts Company, and second only to Eminem‘s 139,000 in June for “Recovery”(Interscope/Universal). Williams’ span of No. 1 solo albums began in 1997 with “Life Thru A Lens”; prior to that, he had three chart-toppers as a member of Take That, the group he recently rejoined, and with whom he will feature on the new album “Progress” next month.

EMI secured the entire top three on the new album survey last night (Oct. 18), as Tinie Tempah‘s “Disc-overy” (Parlophone) fell 1-2, and Cliff Richard extended his album chart span to 51 and a half years with “Bold As Brass” (EMI). Dance trio Magnetic Man debuted at No. 5 with their self-titled Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment set, which includes the hits “I Need Air” and “Perfect Stranger.”

Additionally, Bruno Mars‘ former No. 1 “Just The Way You Are (Amazing)” (Elektra/Atlantic) rebounded 4-2, “Miami 2 Ibiza” (Virgin/EMI) by Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie climbed 5-4, Mike Posner‘s “Cooler Than Me” (J/Sony Music Entertainment) 22-9 and “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” (LaFace/Sony Music Entertainment) by Usher featuring Pitbull 18-10.
