Rita Ora partners with Project 0 to help raise awareness and funds for ocean conservation. The philanthropic initiative, called La Mer Wave Walk, kicks off on Saturday (May 20), placing 50 unique “waves” designed by entertainment influencers all throughout Manhattan. Observers can purchase the pieces through art and design auction house Paddle8.
“The ocean is in crisis. It makes up 70 percent of our planet yet less than 4 percent is under protection. Our goal at Project 0 is to have 30 percent of the ocean under protection by 2030,” Project 0 Board Member Ty Wood exclusively tells Billboard. “We are so pleased that La Mer have come on board as our main sponsor in this important effort to raise substantial awareness and funding for the ocean.”
Ora and actress Sienna Miller‘s sculptures are on view at the Oculus in the World Trade Center in New York’s Financial District, while painter Milla Eastwood and it-girl Cara Delevingne‘s interpretations will be on Roosevelt Island. The esteemed photographer and director, Bruce Weber, who is known for his striking black and white portraits, and British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, who is credited with introducing modern punk style into the mainstream (she also counts Harry Styles and Charli XCX as fans), are joining the company’s charity as well.
The exhibition, which concludes on June 21 and offers a live auction at Sotheby’s that same day, will donate 100% of the proceeds to La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund for Project 0.
