Rising stars Luke Bryan, Jason Michael Carroll, Bucky Covington, Jake Owen and Taylor Swift will perform at the New Faces of Country Music Show March 7 in Nashville. The performances will close the annual Country Radio Seminar.
Bryan’s first single,” All My Friends Say,” reached No. 5 on the Hot Country Songs chart in September and his second single, “We Rode In Trucks,” is currently at No. 46. His debut album, “I’ll Stay Me” (Capitol Nashville) has sold 91,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Carroll has scored a top five and top ten single thus far. “Alyssa Lies” reached No. 5 in March and “Livin’ Our Love Song” recently No. 6. His “Waitin In The Country” (Arista Nashville) has sold 300,000 copies.
Covington, an “American Idol” finalist, saw his debut “A Different World” reach No. 6 on Hot Country Songs in August. His second single. “It’s Good To Be Us,” is currently at No. 29. His self-titled debut (Arista Nashville) has scanned 300, 000 units according to SoundScan.
Florida native Owen has scored a top 20 (“Yee Haw”) and a top 10 (“Startin’ With Me”). His album, also titled “Startin’ With Me” (RCA Nashville), has sold 223,000 copies.
Swift was scheduled to perform on the 2007 New Faces show, but had to bow out because of a conflict with a George Strait tour date. She has tallied three top ten singles, including “Tim McGraw,” “Teardrops On My Guitar” and “Our Song,” which is currently at No. 6. Her self-titled debut (Big Machine) has sold 1.7 million copies in the U.S.
The participants were chosen by country radio registrants who attended the 2007 Country Radio Seminar. Votes were tallied by Nashville-based Flood Bumstead McCready & McCarthy.
CRS-39 will be held March 5-7 at the Nashville Convention Center.
