In an exclusive statement to Billboard, Violent J of Insane Clown Posse called Brockie’s death a “terrible loss to the world.”
“I am devastated to hear of the passing of Oderus Urungus (Dave Brockie). GWAR are true pioneers of the underground and without them there would have been no blueprint on how to do-it-yourself in the world of music. Oderus was one of our true heroes and he recently appeared on ‘ICP Theater’ and we had plans to do a Halloween tour together. His passing is a terrible loss to the world and we will miss our friend greatly.”
Randy Blythe of Lamb of God posted a photo and tribute on the band’s Facebook page. “[Brockie] never put much stock in ‘limits.’ Richmond, VA has lost one of its most creative people. This is a crying shame to me.”
