Last night (Nov. 10), Rihanna returned to ‘Saturday Night Live’ for the fourth time. The singer performed two songs off her seventh studio album, “Unapologetic.”
Rih Rih, who premiered the Anthony Mandler-directed video for “Diamonds” on Thursday night (Nov. 8), performed the single in front of a green back drop. Various computer graphics (planets, palm trees, a rotating human body) projected behind Rihanna, at times hovering over her band, as she performed “Diamonds” for the first time televised.
The singer closed the show with a new song from the upcoming album, out next week (Nov. 19), titled “Stay.” She belted the emotional song, sans featured artist Mikky Ekko: “Funny how you’re the broken one but I’m the only one who needed saving.”
Before hitting the ‘SNL’ stage, Rihanna previewed “Unapologetic,” in its entirety, with media and label executives on Friday afternoon at Jay-Z’s NYC club, 40/40 club.
