
Last week, in the wake of the Ray Rice scandal, CBS pulled the new Thursday Night Football opener, which features Don Cheadle narrating over Rihanna‘s verses from the hit “Run This Town.”
Given that Rihanna is one of pop culture’s most famous victims of domestic violence, perhaps the NFL decided this wasn’t the best possible way to begin rebranding in the wake of the incident.

But now a week has passed, and CBS apparently decided no one cares anymore! So they’re going to reinstate the opener — but now Rihanna is pissed.

UPDATE: A rep for CBS Sports provided the following statement to Billboard, seeming to imply that “Run This Town” was permanently out. “Beginning this Thursday, we will be moving in a different direction with some elements of our Thursday Night Football open. We will be using our newly created Thursday Night Football theme music to open our game broadcast.”
