Latin superstar Ricky Martin has signed on for the first performance as part of the 8th Wonder of the World concert series. The show will be held Feb. 25 at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, and will raise awareness for the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. Details of a global broadcast are still being finalized.
Martin’s performance will be followed by 8th Wonder of the World shows in Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Athens, Cairo, Moscow, Rome, Paris, South Africa and New York’s Statue of Liberty. Which will close the series in 2010.
In other Martin news, the artist will begin a North American tour Jan. 15 in El Paso, Texas. The trek comes in support of his first English-language album in five years, “Life,” which debuted in October at No. 6 on The Billboard 200.
