Latin superstar Ricky Martin is eyeing an October release for his as-yet-untitled new Columbia studio album, his first in English since 2000’s “Sound Loaded.” The Scott Storch-produced first single “I Don’t Care” features guest appearances from Fat Joe and Amerie and can be sampled on the artist’s official Web site.
Martin is also relying on an eclectic series of production collaborators, including the Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Liz Phair), the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am and Luny Toons.
The new album will be the follow-up to 2003’s all-Spanish “Almas del Silencio,” which debuted at No. 12 on The Billboard 200 and included the single “Tal Vez,” the first No. 1 debut on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks chart in more than five years.
The set has sold 252,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, compared to 1.7 million for “Sound Loaded.”
