We’ve all been rickrolled.
For those unfamiliar with the phrase, rickrolling has become a growing prank meme among millennials and Gen-Z, in which a link unexpectedly brings a user to the music video for Rick Astley‘s 1987 hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Most recently, a sound on TikTok will trick a user who thinks a different song will load.
Therefore, it was only appropriate for Astley, the king of rickrolling, to join the fun by creating a TikTok account. Decked in the iconic trench coat from the music video, the singer is seen busting a move to his song. “Still not giving you up. Welcome to RickTok!” he captioned the clip.
The comments, as expected, were thrilled over Astley’s humor. “The legend himself has appeared to rickroll us all,” one of the top comments reads.
“2020 has been building to this moment,” another says. “The entire year has been an elaborate Rick roll.”
