Ricardo Sanchez, known to his loyal Spanish-language radio listeners across the country as “El Mandril,” starts his new job on Monday at KXOS FM 93.9 in Los Angeles.
As previously reported on Billboard.biz, Sanchez had been off the air for about two months as he negotiated his new contract, but in the end the popular host and his longtime station KLAX-FM (97.9) La Raza parted ways officially this week when Sanchez’s contract expired on Jan. 13.
Sanchez’s manager, Fernando Schiantarelli, has taken to social media to announce his client’s new job.

“El Mandril starts his new stage of his career at 93.9-FM. Del Grupo Radio Centro. On Monday [Jan.] 20 at 5 a.m.,” according to an Instagram posting with a photo featuring Sanchez.
On Facebook fans have been congratulating Sanchez on his new position as host of the new program “El Show del Mandril” and L.A.-based Spanish-language media outlets have begun covering the new announcement, which was posted on Facebook as well, with photos of Sanchez and his new team celebrating.
“A new start… that will make our mornings happy and positive,” wrote fan Octavio Vazquez on Sanchez’s Facebook wall.
Published reports surfaced last year that an investigation was launched by Nielsen due to allegations that members of Arbitron’s audience were contacted by the Sanchez camp as a way move ratings, but a representative for the radio has denied any wrongdoing.
