Rhapsody, the online music service whose ads in the past have raised the profiles of The Cool Kids and Sara Bareilles, today launched a campaign with four up and coming artists.
The spots, by New York ad agency Droga5, use the music of Erin McCarly (Motown/Universal), Kevin Rudolf (Cash Money/UMG), Kraak & Smaak (Ultra) and GlasVegas (Columbia/Sony).
In the spots bubbles burst and snippets from the band’s music is heard. In addition, each artist’s pages on Rhapsody receives a mention. Glasvegas will be promoted in the site’s One’s To Watch section during the month of Jan.
“Even though we feel we are exposing the artists, we know people’s attention spans are short and we want to hold people’s attention,” said David Krinsky, GM label relations and business development, Rhapsody, a joint venture between Real Networks and MTV Networks.
