Republican congressman Trey Radel may swing right on political policies but his musical tastes are probably far from what you would expect a conventional GOPer to be. Radel, who represents Florida’s 19th district, is a massive Jay-Z fan and took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to review the rapper’s latest album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail.”
Radel’s decision to give a review “Holy Grail” during his flight to Washingtion, D.C. spawned from having been asked several times about his thoughts on the album via Twitter.
Though the lawmaker humbly started his series of tweets by saying his is a “totally unqualified review,” he certainly seems to know a thing or two about hip-hop and music if his tweets are anything to go by.
Radel had nothing but praise for “Magna Carta Holy Grail” and commented on the rapper’s “sick beats” and use of synth and strings for certain tracks. He also commended Jay-Z for pulling off an ode to the late Kurt Cobain.
Check out Rep. Trey Radel’s entire Twitter review of Jay-Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” below:
Have been asked several times here about #jayz‘s @s_c_ new album. On way to #DC. Totally unqualified review to come…

Only… ONLY.. #JayZ @s_c_ can pull off a #hiphop ode to Kurt Cobain and REM @remhq. Not just an ode.. But lyrical references! Pretty sick.

And only Hova @s_c_ can pull off references to the Concord, Paris n Rome and still sound real. Not @kanyewest. No one. #MCHG
