XL Recordings will distribute the physical edition of Radiohead’s new album, “In Rainbows,” outside the United States, according to the New York Times. The company last year released Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke’s solo album, “The Eraser.”
Label representatives, as well as Radiohead manager Bryce Edge, declined comment when contacted by Billboard.
told Billboard last week that reports of 1.2 million were “exaggerated.”
Radiohead will tour in support of “In Rainbows” next year, likely beginning in May. And while the band has yet to come to terms with iTunes to make its material available for sale via that platform, Apple execs are optimistic about a deal at some point.
“We were really excited about getting them into the digital marketplace,” iTunes VP Eddy Cue tells Billboard. “We figured, if they did that, hopefully over time they’d come to iTunes.”
