Universal Music & Video Distribution launched the third day of the National Assn. of Recording Merchandisers convention with a three-song performance by Styx, followed by a showcase of wares the company will bring to market to brighten up their third and fourth quarter.
Other artists that performed during the well attended UMVD session were American Idol runner-up LaToya London, Fe Fe Dobson and All American Rejects.
In between the live performances UMVD got down to business with product presentations highlighting a two-disc Bryan Adams retrospective, a Smash Mouth greatest hits that will be pushed by a 1-800 campaign, a Sublime box set, a Bob Marley singles collection that includes a new recording featuring Eric Clapton and a Johnny Cash retrospective.
Also in the pipeline are new releases from BB King, Ryan Adams, Susan Tedeschi, Jamie Cullum, Diana Krall, Mary J. Blige, Nelly Furtado, Ashlee Simpson and the highly anticipated soundtrack to 50 Cent’s film.
Additionally, UMVD will apparently step-up support for the DualDisc by issuing the last 3 Doors Down album in the format.
