Michael Reinert has been promoted to executive VP of business and legal affairs for Universal Motown Records Group (UMRG). Reinert, based in New York, will continue to report directly to Mel Lewinter, chairman of the company.
In his new position, Reinert will continue to head the business and legal affairs department for UMRG, which includes Universal Records, Motown Records, SRC Records and Republic Records, among others. He was most recently senior VP for UMRG, a position he has held since 1999. Prior to 1996, Reinert was a VP in the business and legal affairs department of PolyGram Holding, Inc.
Reinert started his career in radio in New Orleans, and after law school became VP of Rowe International, the world’s largest jukebox company. Reinert was also on the adjunct faculty of the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law for ten years and continues to lecture at seminars across the country.
