Redfoo, the DJ, electropop artist and producer who enjoyed a global smash in 2011 with LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” was left bloodied after he was hit with a glass bottle in a Sydney bar.
The American musician (real name Stefan Gordy) received a gash to the face when he was apparently struck in an unprovoked attack at the Golden Sheaf Hotel in Double Bay.
Police allege a 21-year-old man threw the glass at Redfoo, opening up a wound under his right eye which required treatment from paramedics. Redfoo told officers he had “never met the guy”.
Channel Ten crime reporter Andrew Denney obtained and shared images of both Redfoo being struck by the glass, and his injuries directly after the incident in the early hours of Thursday morning. The unidentified attacker has been charged with malicious wounding.

“It was a crazy occurrence,” Redfoo told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph newspaper. “We were sitting in the back area with my mates, surrounded by some thangs. We are dancing, having a good time, we’re taking some pictures, taking the snapchats… We were about to round up the party and take it home to the after party, as we normally do.
“All of a sudden out of nowhere a glass hits me in the head and I look over to see who might have thrown it and I see kind of a dodgy fella trying to flee the scene… I looked down at my hand and there was blood all over my hand. There’s blood on the dance floor and I’m bleeding. That just makes you a little more upset.
“So I go and I try to chase him out but they’re holding me back. I wanted to see what the guy looks like, I’ve got to see his face… He starts blowing me kisses and winking at me like, yeah sucker… It was unbelievable, like I had been hit in the head with an axe, unbelievable.”
The assailant tried to run from the pub, but was held by security guards until cops arrived. He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear Sept. 24 at Waverley Local Court.
LMFAO To Reunite Someday? ‘Time Will Tell,’ Says Redfoo
Redfoo and his nephew Sky Blu (Skyler Austen Gordy) recorded two albums as LMFAO, Party Rock from 2009, and Sorry for Party Rocking from 2011, which yielded the hit “Party Rock Anthem,” featuring British singer Lauren Bennett.
Redfoo, the youngest song of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, has called Australia home in recent years. Notwithstanding the attack, the country been a hugely successful platform for his career. LMFAO have hit No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart twice, first spending ten weeks there with “Party Rock Anthem” in 2011 and nine weeks with “Sexy And I Know It” later in the same year. He’s a judge on the TV talent show X Factor Australia and his solo 2013 song “Let’s Get Ridiculous” opened at No. 1 on the ARIA singles chart, bumping off Katy Perry’s “Roar” in the process. The video for “Lets Get Ridiculous” was shot in Sydney, and the song is now four-times platinum certified, according to ARIA.
Redfoo’s appeal is so great Down Under, he’s just been named as a headliner for the inaugural iHeartRadio Australia Music Festival, where he’s the second-from-top billed performer behind Miley Cyrus. Redfoo has just dropped “New Thang,” a single lifted from his forthcoming new solo album.
