The quintet will drop their second album on Nov. 17. With the title Perfect Velvet, it’ll feature nine songs including the single “Peek-A-Boo,” which the band began teasing on social media on Tuesday (Nov. 7.)
After starting out as a quartet in 2014, Red Velvet became a five-piece in 2015 with the addition of youngest member Yeri and has since grown into one of South Korea’s most popular girl groups. They’ve seen major success internationally and have had three albums top the World Albums chart.
The group originally split their identity between bright and peppy “Red” tracks and more mature and sultry “Velvet” ones, but has since primarily veered towards an overall upbeat dance-pop styling. Despite the upcoming album’s title, the short teaser video for “Peek-A-Boo” doesn’t signal any major shift on Perfect Velvet towards the group’s softer side and instead promises a woozy synth-pop number.
Based on the short video, the saccharine track will feature a Halloween, possibly monster-hunter-inspired, music video that features the five members of Red Velvet in sparkly, rainbow-hued outfits emblazoned with verbiage including “Love Sees No Colours” and “Love Is.”

Along with the short teaser clip, the group’s shared a variety of spooky images with their fans, further hinting to a B-grade horror film-motif, which labelmates SHINee put to good use in the video for their 2015 single “Married to the Music.”
Known for dynamic tracks with addicting hooks, “Peek-A-Boo” will be the group’s third formal single of the year, the follow-up to “Rookie” and “Red Flavor.”
