KCON must have felt their lineup needed a bit more sugar before finalizing it. New girl group Red Velvet was the last artist confirmed for the Los Angeles date of America’s biggest K-pop festival.
The quintet join a bill that includes K-pop veterans like Super Junior and Shinhwa along with fellow newcomers like Monsta X and GOT7. Along with Red Velvet’s inclusion, KCON revealed which specific days each act would play in the three-day fest that includes panels, workshops, fan meet-and-greets and more.
Despite less a year on the scene, Red Velvet have managed to cause a respectable splash on the Billboard charts. The girls have landed all four of their singles in the Top 10 of the World Digital Songs chart to date from debut single “Happiness” (which peaked at No. 4) to 2015 breakout hit “Ice Cream Cake” (No. 3), along with “Be Natural” (No. 6) and “Automatic” (No. 9). The act even managed to send their debut EP Ice Cream to No. 2 on the World Albums chart and No. 24 on Heatseekers Albums.
Tickets for the L.A. date’s platinum and combo options went on sale today. General admission along with tickets for its New York date (which hasn’t had its full lineup revealed) will go on sale at later dates.
