RED Distribution has struck a distribution deal covering all forthcoming U.S. releases for Communion, the artist-led organization co-founded by Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett.
Through the new distribution partnership, RED will provide all physical, mobile and digital distribution for Communion’s recordings stateside.
RED, an independent division of Sony Music Entertainment, will also deliver radio promotions and marketing for the label’s artists, beginning with Willy Mason, Bear’s Den, Rubblebucket and Tennis.
“It made perfect sense to work alongside RED with the launch of our small Indie label in the U.S,.” explains Lovett, who co-founded the London imprint in 2006 with Cherbourg bassist Kevin Jones and producer Ian Grimble. “Their attention to detail and ethos is so perfectly geared towards supporting and providing added infrastructure to a company like Communion Records. They feel like family, and I look forward to growing as a label with them as our partners.”
Communion launched a United States arm division in 2011, and in Australia the following year. Its plans for expansion include the recent launch of the traveling “Club Night,” the U.S. version of which routes across nine markets over a three week period with midweek shows.
