Bob Feldman, president of St. Paul, Minn.-based Red House Records, died Wednesday in his home. He was 56.
In a statement released by Red House, it notes that Feldman had been battling a host of “health issues” in recent weeks. Red House was closed, and no further information was immediately available.
Feldman had operated Red House Records since about 1983, when he took over the label from artist and founder Greg Brown. Over the years Red House had released a number of respected albums from such artists as Rosalie Sorrels, Utah Phillips, Adrian Legg, Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy LaFave, Loudon Wainwright III, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and Brown, among many others.
The eight-person staff or Red House will continue to operate the label. Red House will issue an album from Lynn Miles on Feb. 7. Feldman is survived by his wife Beth, son Ari, parents, Sydney and Toby, brother Alan and sister Sheri Cerny.
