
The Recording Academy has promoted Lourdes Lopez Patton to vp communications, the organization announced Thursday (July 11). Lopez Patton will report directly to Recording Academy president and CEO Neil Portnow and his forthcoming replacement Deborah Dugan, who is scheduled to assume the post Aug. 1.
“Lourdes has worked tirelessly over the course of her 17-year Recording Academy career to share our story with a global audience and strengthen our company brand,” said Portnow in a statement. “She is a proven leader who has demonstrated unbridled passion, creativity, and professionalism; all while possessing an impressive growth mindset. Having worked with Lourdes for many years, I am delighted to have her join our senior management team. I know she has the right skills, relationships, and experiences in place to help the Academy continue to grow.”
During her nearly 17 years at the Recording Academy, Lopez Patton has overseen operations including marketing, event management, staffing and financial control and has managed public relations for national and international member and industry events, including all official Grammy Week initiatives. She has also managed all aspects of the red carpet and media center for the Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards, including design, budget, day-to-day operations and media placement.
In her new role, Lopez Patton will oversee all aspects of the Recording Academy’s internal and external communications, including media and public relations, corporate communications and reputation management. She will additionally collaborate with production partners, sponsors, talent teams, music labels and media while continuing to oversee PR efforts for Grammy Week events.
Also announced Thursday was Andie Cox‘s promotion from director communications to managing director communications.
