The fourth annual Record Store Day has been set for April 16.
Held annually on the third Saturday of April, Record Store Day aims to celebrate the culture of more than 1,400 independent music stores around the world by hosting in-store events and featuring special product releases.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, Record Store Day 2010 was the biggest day of sales for vinyl in Soundscan’s history. Click here for more sales details for last year’s Record Store Day.
Record Store Day is managed by the Music Monitor Network and organized in partnership with the Alliance of Independent Media Stores (AIMS), the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS).
This year’s sponsors include Crosley Radio, EMI Distribution, Fontana Distribution, Furnace MFG, NARM, RED Distribution, Sony Music, Universal Music Distribution, Vivendi Entertainment, WEA Distribution and Warner Bros. Records.
