The German music publishers association DMV, based in Bonn, reports a record number of German companies will be represented at MIDEM 2009 with 132 labels, music publishing companies, producer-teams and studios compared to 121 in 2008.
The MIDEM international music market and conference takes place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes from Jan. 18 to 21.
“The difficult economic and financial situation has not harmed Germany’s optimism, as the world’s fourth largest music-market,” said Dr. Heinz Stroh, DMV managing director, in a statement. “The German music makers will be present with the same creativity and interesting offers.”
MIDEM will launch its inaugural International Publishing Summit, in association with the International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP), on Jan. 20.
