Broadway musicals scored big Thanksgiving week with “Mamma Mia!” and “Jersey Boys” both experiencing record breaking sales.
“Mamma Mia!” celebrated its fourth Thanksgiving on Broadway and best holiday week ever with a gross of $1,082,934 for the week ending November 27. This was up $28,000 on the same week last year.
Now in it’s fourth year on Broadway, the musical has a worldwide gross of over $1.4 billion and can be currently be seen in 11 productions in six languages around the world.
Additionally, “Jersey Boys”–the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons–set a new house record at the August Wilson Theatre, grossing $802,858 for the week ending November 27, topping last week’s record-breaking gross by more than $100,000. “Jersey Boys” opened at the August Wilson on November 6.
