Since today is April Fool’s Day — and, of course, Friday — humor website Funny or Die is celebrating by letting “Friday” phenom Rebecca Black take over their site. In this clip for “Friday or Die,” the singer spoofs her overnight success — with the help of Sammy Hagar — in a faux-“Behind the Music” documentary “Betwixt the Music: Rebecca Black.”

The video has all the standards of a dramatic “Behind the Music” episode, but for a 13-year-old subject: instead of the tales of drug addiction, for instance, Black says that she is constantly offered candy and Werther’s Originals. “My parents keep me pretty grounded — like literally, I’m grounded,” Black jokes in the clip. “For poppin’ bub and rollin’ on dubs past curfew! But you know, fame is the game.”
Meanwhile, Hagar shows up to explain “the times we were living in” when “Friday” was released a mere month ago. “‘Rango’ was No. 1 at the box office, not No. 3 when this song came out, okay?” explains the Chickenfoot frontman. “Betwixt the Music” even mixes in clips of Metallica‘s “Behind the Music” special, in which Lars Ulrich simply states the phrase, “Total… confusion.”
Rebecca Black Prepping ‘Friday’ Follow-Up, ‘LOL’
Black can joke about her much-maligned single all she wants, but the 13-year-old is laughing all the way to the bank: “Friday” rises 57-38 on the Digital Songs chart with 50,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan (up 35%). The singer is also preparing to unleash her follow-up single, “LOL,” as well as her debut album.
