RealNetworks has signed a pan-European licensing deal for its Real Music services with CELAS, the company set up to represent EMI Music Publishing’s repertoire for online and mobile in Europe.
The partnership covers the digital entertainment company’s online radio Real Music service, as well as the Real Digital Download Shop in territories including the U.K., Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.
“CELAS was the first organization to offer licences for cross border music services for online and mobile applications,” said managing directors Nick Williamson and Alexander Wolf in a joint statement. “We continue to work with music services to provide effective and efficient licensing solutions for established and newer business models.”
CELAS is jointly-owned by UK authors’ collecting society MCPS-PRS Alliance and German society GEMA. It represents EMI Music Publishing’s Anglo-American repertoire for Europe for online and mobile services.
