Former Collector’s Choice founder Gordon Anderson and Hep Cat Records & Distribution founder Gabby Castellana are joining forces in launching a new reissue label, Real Gone Music.
The label, which will be distributed by Razor & Tie, will kick off by issuing such titles as ? & the Mysterians “96 Tears” and “Action,” both albums on 180-gram vinyl and re-mastered from the original tape sources at 45 rpm. The two albums, initially on the Cameo Parkway label, are being issued under license from ABKCO Music & Records. Other titles the label plans to issue between now and the end of the year are “Dicks Picks” Vol. 34-36 in the series of live Grateful Dead recordings. The label also plans to issue Christmas music albums from David Rose, Ed Ames and the “Cameo Parkway Holiday Hits” compilation. And it will issue “The Girls From Petticoat Junction: Sixties Sound.”
Real Gone Music will issue records on vinyl, digital and CDs and will not limit itself to any single era or genre, according to the announcement. “We want to put out titles that, through their repertoire and packaging, inspire the kind of excitement we all felt when we bought our first album or single in a record store…music that you can lose yourself in,” Castellana said in a statement.
