There’s a new King on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs this week as Jamie Foxx‘s “Fall For Your Type,” featuring Drake, jumps 5-1, snapping Trey Songz‘s “Can’t Be Friends'” No. 1 run at 13 weeks. Ironically, Foxx’s last chart-topper was the 2009 smash “Blame It” which spent 14 weeks at the top, a tie for second-longest run in chart history. With Mary J. Blige‘s hit “Be Without You” holding the record at 15 weeks, Trey Songz was just three weeks away from having the longest running No. 1 in the chart’s history! (Billboard published its first all-encompassing R&B songs chart in 1958). It’s still possible for him, too.

For the moment though, “Fall For Your Type” marks both Jamie and Drake’s fourth No. 1’s on the chart. For comparison’s sake, let’s list each artist’s milestones and statistics:

Below the dethroned Songz at No. 2 is Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?,” also featuring Drake, slipping 2-3 thanks to Jamie’s leap. The rumored couple’s hit had been sitting under Trey Songz’s chart-topper for three weeks.
Two new songs enter the top 5 for the first time this week as Keri Hilson’s “Pretty Girl Rock” (6-4) and Nicki Minaj’s “Moment 4 Life,” once again featuring Drake (7-5), each skip two positions. It is Keri’s third top 5 title and Nicki’s fifth.
Chris Brown’s “No BS” unexpectedly falls 3-6 with a 7% decline to 28.6 million in audience, according to Nielsen BDS. But with the No.1 record “Fall For Your Type” clocking 30.7 million listener impressions, you can see how tight the top of the chart is this week.
Lil Wayne continues his top 10 climb with “6 Foot 7 Foot,” featuring Cory Gunz, skipping 9-7 after cracking the upper tier last week. Meanwhile, former No. 1 contenders Rick Ross’ “Aston Martin Music,” featuring (one last time…) Drake and Chrisette Michele (4-8), and Waka Flocka Flame’s “No Hands,” featuring Roscoe Dash and Wale (8-9) continue to descend.
Reentering the top 10 is Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” (11-10) after being knocked out for the first time since December 18th by Lloyd’s “Lay It Down” (10-11) last week. Wiz’s hit has yet to pass No. 9 though.
New additions to R&B/Hip-Hop Songs this week include Jennifer Hudson’s best debut yet “Where You At” opening at No. 53 with 3.7 million in audience. Keyshia Cole posts a new cut off “Calling All Hearts” titled “Take Me Away” at No. 67. And newcomer Miguel lands “Sure Thing” at No. 77 after taking his debut “All I Want Is You” all the way to No. 7 back in November.
On R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday” picks up a fourth week at No. 1 with a 35% increase to 38,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her sales performance this week causes her debut to beat Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’s” total U.S. sales for the first time – 989,000 vs. 981,000. Both albums were released on November 22, 2010.
Rihanna’s “Loud” retains the No. 2 position for a fourth time following her No. 1 debut on December 4, 2010. Eminem’s “Recovery” steps up 4-3 in its 33rd week on the chart while R. Kelly’s “Love Letter” also steps one position moving 5-4 in its seventh week.
Kanye’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” falls 3-5 with a 13% decrease to 19,000 copies this week. Despite being outsold by Nicki, “Fantasy” has resided in the top 10 for all but one of its 11 chart weeks – the set debuted at No. 59 on December 4th due to street date violations.
Jamie Foxx’s “Best Night of My Life” stays put at No. 6 while Talib Kweli posts his latest release “Gutter Rainbows” at No. 7 on the list with 14,000 copies. The debut marks
the prolific rapper’s sixth top 10 title following 2007’s “Eardrum,” which debuted and peaked at No. 2, his best chart position to date.
T.I.’s “No Mercy” (7-8) and Lil Wayne’s “I Am Not a Human Being” (8-9) each slip one position while Keyshia Cole’s “Calling All Hearts” holds onto the No. 10 spot for a sixth top 10 week.
Besides Kweli’s top 10 debut, Corinne Bailey Rae opens “The Love” EP at No. 20 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with 6,000 copies and Tech N9ne and DJ Whoo Kid post “XXL Presents: Bad Season” at No. 28 with 4,000 copies.
