– Singer Randy Crawford reunites with Joe Sample for the March 2009 release “No Regrets.”: The PRA Records project features the pair covering such R&B and jazz classics as the title track, “Respect Yourself,” “Today I Sing the Blues” and “This Bitter Earth.” The twosome’s last project together was the 2006 album “Feeling Good.”
– Kevon Edmonds’ second solo CD, “Who Knew,” is now scheduled for release in April 2009. It is being released though Make Entertainment/Image Distribution (billboard.biz, Oct. 9). Edmonds has also been tapped as a judge for the New York.com/City of Fame’s vocal talent competition. The winner will perform as part of the Torch of Freedom’s Holiday Salute to our Troops concert featuring Aretha Franklin and Edmonds (with his former group After 7) at Times Square’s Nokia Theater Dec. 14.
– LL Cool J, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary and Heather Headley will be among the artists who will be appearing on BET’s ninth annual “Celebration of Gospel.” The show is being taped Dec. 10 at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles for airing on Jan. 25. Syndicated radio personality Steve Harvey returns as host with Ray Chew serving as musical director.
