2 Chainz has reportedly been acquitted of drug charges which had forced the rapper to miss a tour of Australia.
According to the Star Democrat, a county judge on Wednesday found the rapper not guilty of drugs possession, stemming from an incident on Feb. 14.
The Atlanta-based artist, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, had been heading to a college homecoming event in February when Maryland State Police stopped the van he was traveling in.
Police said they searched the van after smelling burnt marijuana and found a marijuana grinder and marijuana inside a backpack. Cops went on to arrest the Grammy-nominated artist for marijuana possession, despite later claims that he doesn’t smoke.
His arrest had ripple effects that were felt on the other side of the world. Live Nation’s Movement festival was meant to travel Australia this week, with 2 Chainz on a bill which featured the likes of Chiddy Bang, Joey Bada$$, Angel Haze, Spit Syndicate, Thundamentals and its curator Nas. Organizers canceled the multi-city event April 18, citing 2 Chainz’s “visa issues resulting from a pending unresolved court case” among the big reasons.
2 Chainz solo debut album “Based on a T.R.U. Story” bowed at the top spot of the Billboard 200 in August 2012 with 147,000 copies sold.
