Modern rock paragons Radiohead and R.E.M. are showing off their two-dimensional acting skills on cartoon sitcoms. Tonight’s (July 11) episode of “South Park” will feature a guest spot by Radiohead, and R.E.M. has confirmed that its members will appear in an episode of “The Simpsons” later this year.

Meanwhile, R.E.M.’s official Web site reports that the trio will be in Los Angeles next week recording an episode of “The Simpsons,” set to air this November on Fox. No word has yet surfaced on what the band’s role in the episode will be.
