For the second year running, Radiohead was honored as “best act in the world today” at the 13th annual Q Awards, held yesterday (Oct. 21) in London. Coldplay picked up the best album award for “A Rush of Blood to the Head” (Parlophone), while best single went to Sugababes for “Freak Like Me” (Universal Island). Pink took the best video honor for “Get the Party Started” (Arista), the innovation award went to Depeche Mode, and Moby the took best producer.
Electric Soft Parade was named best new act, Tom Jones won the merit award, Echo & the Bunnymen took the inspiration award, and Jimmy Cliff received the classic songwriter accolade. Swedish act the Hives earned the best live act award. Readers of Q magazine voted on most of the awards, with a handful chosen by a panel assembled by the publication.
