Disney executive Sean Cocchia is moving over to Radio Disney as senior VP and GM. In his new position, Cocchia will oversee the radio industry’s only network programming to kids and their parents across both traditional and digital platforms. He will also continue working on extending Disney Channels Worldwide’s content across digital platforms, working with Albert Cheng, executive VP of digital media for the Disney ABC Television Group.
A 12-year Disney vet, Cocchia was most recently senior VP of business planning and development for Disney Channels Worldwide. He succeeds Michael Riley who was recently named president of ABC Family.
David Cobb moves into Cocchia’s former position, from director of business planning and development for Disney Channels Worldwide.
Both Cocchia and Cobb report to Carolina Lightcap, president of Disney Channels Worldwide.
Radio Disney has slowly been trimming their portfolio of owned-and-operated AM radio stations (currently at 32 stations) while stepping up distribution across digital platforms, including RadioDisney.com, Sirius XM Radio, iTunes Radio, mobile phones and an iPhone/iPod Touch app.
