The Raconteurs, the band staffed by the White Stripes’ Jack White, Brendan Benson and the Greenhornes’ Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence, will release their debut album, “Broken Boy Soldiers,” May 16 via Third Man/V2. As previously reported, the 10-track set is led by the single “Steady, As She Goes,” which is streaming from the band’s Web site.
The group will play its maiden live shows beginning March 20 in London. “It’s something totally new for me — two songwriters working together,” White told Billboard of the Raconteurs last summer. “Dual vocals, dual lead guitars, dual songwriting duties. It’s not just me and Brendan; Patrick and Jack are very talented musicians. The songs are giant. They’re really large.”
The White Stripes are presently finishing up a swing of make-up dates in Japan that were postponed earlier this year while White struggled with a vocal cord ailment.
