Putumayo World Music gets into the holiday spirit with the Oct. 28 release of “A Jazz & Blues Christmas.” Among the jazz and blues artists featured on the 10-track set are B.B. King (“Christmas Celebration”), Ray Charles (“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”), Charles Brown (“Santa’s Blues”) and Ramsey Lewis (“Here Comes Santa Claus”). “A Jazz & Blues Christmas” joins the label’s other holiday releases, “New Orleans Christmas” and “Christmas Around the World.”
In a further expansion of its growing jazz series, Putumayo will jointly
release “Women of Jazz” on the same date. That project’s lineup includes North American vocalists Cassandra Wilson, Melody Gardot, Madeleine Peyroux and Stacy Kent. Previous Putumayo jazz CDs include “Latin Jazz” and “New Orleans.”
