Pulse Recording, the LA-based publishing and management company that represents songwriter Bonnie McKee (Katy Perry, Britney Spears), producer-writers Dallas Austin (Pink, TLC) and DJ White Shadow (Lady Gaga) and dance artist Sofi, has signed an exclusive partnership with Nashville-based Creative Nation, which was co-founded by country hitmaker Luke Laird (Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Sara Evans).
“This relationship underlies the importance of integrating two of music’s most important cities — Nashville and Los Angeles — formulating a new breed of Pop and Country artists with multiple levels of crossover potential,” read a statement announcing the partnership. The first songwriter to be signed to the newly combined entity is Barry Dean.
With a song roster that includes such massive radio hits as Gaga’s “Born This Way” and “The Edge of Glory,” Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” “California Gurls,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F),” “Part of Me” and “Wide Awake,” Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite,” and Neon Trees’ “Animal,” Pulse has raised its profile significantly in recent years. Now aiming to cross over to country, the company looks to Music City veterans Luke and Beth Laird, each of whom comes with impressive credentials: the former an ACM Songwriter of the year nomination and nine No. 1 singles, and the latter earning a spot on Billboard’s 30 under 30 Power Players to Watch.
