Reach Music Links With Zac Brown, Band, Southern Ground
Reach Music Publishing has signed a worldwide publishing-administration agreement with Zac Brown, founder of the Zac Brown Band. In addition, Reach Music will administer publishing for artists signed to Brown’s record label Southern Ground, including Nic Cowan, Sonia Leigh and Levi Lowrey, and will extend its services to the other members of the Zac Brown Band. As part of the deal, Reach Music will provide global administration, synch licensing, creative support as well as back-office functions for the entire Zac Brown Band catalog, and the affiliated Southern Ground Artists.
Jewel Signs With Downtown Music
Downtown Music Publishing has signed singer/songwriter Jewel to a worldwide, long-term publishing agreement. This deal covers her complete song catalog as well as future works.
House of Hassle Inks Grizzly Bear, Menomena, Paul Banks, Many More
House Of Hassle has signed a number of artists to publishing deals, including Grizzly Bear, Menomena, Lucero, Two Gallants, Paul Banks of Interpol, and Zach Schwartz of Rogue Wave and Release the Sunbird. In addition, House of Hassle, which was formed by the partnering of the Big Hassle Media publicity firm and the Bank Robber Music boutique TV/film licensing firm, has opened an office in Nashville, and has hired music publishing veteran Lynn Gann to lead that effort.
Patrick Joseph Music/SONGS Music Launches With George Teren
The recently formed Patrick Joseph Music/SONGS Music publishing company has struck a deal with veteran Nashville-based George Teren as the venture’s first signing. Teren whose catalog includes Tim McGraw’s “Real Good Man,” Brad Paisley’s “When I Get To Where I’m Going” and Trace Adkin’s “Ladies Love Country Boys,” has had songs recorded by Britney Spears, Nick Lachey, and Tower Of Power.
Kobalt’s Willard Ahdritz to Deliver Keynote at MIDEM
Kobalt Music Group founder and CEO Willard Ahdritz will deliver a keynote address at the at the MIDEM convention, which will be held in Cannes Jan 26-29. Ahdritz, who will speak on the last day of the convention, will discuss the opportunities and challenges facing music publishers today.
BMG Chrysalis Signs John Fullbright, BassNectar; Renews With busbee
John Fullbright, whose “From the Ground Up” has just been nominated for Best Amerifan album, has signed an exclusive worldwide co-publishing agreement with BMG Chrysalis US. Also, BMG Chrysalis has signed an exclusive worldwide administration deal with electronic musician Bassnectar. According to Nielsen SoundScan, his U.S. sales total 277,000 units, including 40,000 for his most recent album, “Vava Voom.”
In another move, BMG Chrysalis has renewed its exclusive, worldwide co-publishing agreement with songwriter/producer busbee, who has worked with P!nk, Timbaland, Keith Urban, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Rascal Flatts, Daughtry, Lady Antebellum, Flo Rida, Adam Lambert, Jason Aldean, Kid Cudi, Toni Braxton, Blake Shelton, Better Than Ezra, and Liz Phair among others. BMG Chrysalis US also has a joint venture with busbee under which writers JP Clark, Luke Dick, Ben West and Deion Blaster are signed. As a solo artist, busbee has recorded two solo records and is member of the bands GoNorthToGoSouth and Bombs Over Nowhere.
ASCAP Announces Initial Sundance Lineup
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) has announced some of the line-up for its 15th annual Sundance ASCAP Music Café , which will be held in the daytime during the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, Jan. 18-25 in Park City, Utah. Featured performers at the 15th annual Sundance ASCAP Music Café include: Jill Barber, Andrew Bird, Dave Berg, Nataly Dawn, Kat Edmonson, Melanie Fiona, Frankmusik, the Head and the Heart, Here We Go Magic, Greg Holden, Eric Hutchinson, Paul Kelly, Dave Mason, MoZella, Sea Wolf, Kim Taylor, Drake White and Blue Sky Riders (Kenny Loggins, Georgia Middleman & Gary Burr). Windish Music Licensing Syncs Up With Hidden Track
Windish Music Licensing, the sync division the Windish Agency, and Hidden Track Music have formed a long-term partnership in which the latter will handle day-to-day client needs and sync pitches for Windish clients. The new partnership will grow the roster, which already includes High Highs, Miami Horror, Orwells, and Superhumanoids, in 2013, focusing on the emerging acts already affiliated with The Windish Agency booking lineup.
Red Igloo Links With CPM/South Africa
Red Igloo Music Publishing, which distributes and produces production music, has cut a deal to serve as administrator and distributor for the CPM (formerly Carlin) catalogue in South Africa, according to the Johannesburg, South Africa-based company. In the decade since Red Igloo’s inception, the company now handles about 100 music production catalogs, including Warner/Chappell and Imagem libraries, according to a Red Igloo statement.
