Prince is taking his Musicology tour to the big screen. Regal Entertainment Theaters across the United States will air live via satellite his March 29 concert at the Staples Center in L.A.
All buyers of theater tickets will receive a copy of Prince’s new independently released “Musicology” album. Tickets purchased online in advance are $15; same-day tickets will cost $17.50. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. PST and will air in 43 markets.
Regal Entertainment — encompassing Regal Cinema, United Artists and Edwards theaters — is a publicly traded company with Anschutz Corporation serving as the majority shareholder.
Regal aired a live broadcast of the “Coldplay: Live 2003” DVD Nov. 3 in 31 U.S. markets. By 2004, Regal’s Digital Content Network will be able to deploy taped DVD and live simulcast events to 407 of its multiplexes, comprising 5,000 screens and accommodating up to 65,000 people.
