You weren’t the only one shouting along to “Let’s Go Crazy” and dancing in the aisles at the local multiplex during Purple Rain over the weekend. The death of Prince hit all of us really hard, especially the singer’s musical peers.
From Coachella to Denmark, heartfelt tributes to the Purple One just keep coming, with everyone from country stars Chris Stapleton and the Dixie Chicks to Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan to Coldplay’s Chris Martin to indie acts Mac DeMarco and Yacht trying their hand at honoring the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.
Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ Is the Week’s Top-Selling Song, as 6 of His Classics Re-Enter Hot 100

Here are some of our favorite ones:
Paul McCartney covered “Let’s Go Crazy” while playing a show in Minneapolis at the Target Center.
Mac Demarco actually recorded a cover of “It’s Gonna Be Lonely” from Prince’s 1979 album.
Beck nailed “Raspberry Beret” during his set at the Beale Street Festival.
Haim ripped through “I Would Die 4 U” during a show in Santa Ana, California.
Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour mashed up “Comfortably Numb” with “Purple Rain.”
Billy Corgan played an acoustic version of “The Cross.”
Liz Phair’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” in New Orleans.

Chris Stapleton took a run through “Nothing Compares 2 U” in Berkeley.

Maya Rudolph and her Prince cover band Princess played “Let’s Go Crazy” at the Moontower Comedy & Oddity Fest.
Meanwhile, Yacht worked up a cover of “Annie Christian” from 1981’s Controversy.
Coachella was packed with tons of tributes as well, including LCD Soundsystem taking on “Controversy”
Jack U mixed in “I Wanna Be Your Lover” and other Prince songs into their set.
