President Obama made his first in-person appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night, ostensibly to plug his Student Aid Bill of Rights. But because this is Kimmel, the President didn’t get out of the studio without reading some (fairly tame) Mean Tweets about himself.
“I have to say, though, those weren’t that mean,” President Obama told Kimmel after reading the quips. “You should see what the Senate says about me!”
The President also weighed in on Kanye West — specifically, West’s claim that Obama calls him at home. Obama shared that he’s met West twice, but that the rest may have been a bit of an exaggeration on West’s part. Imagine that!

On a far more serious note, President Obama weighed in on the recent shooting of police officers in Ferguson. “I think what had been happening in Ferguson was oppressive and objectionable and worthy of protest, but there was no excuse for criminal acts,” Obama said, in part. “And whoever fired those shots shouldn’t detract from the issue. They’re criminals. They need to be arrested. And then, what we need to do is to make sure that like-minded, good-spirited people on both sides — law enforcement, who have a terrifically tough job, and people who understandably don’t want to be stopped and harassed just because of their race — that we’re able to work together to try to come up with some good answers.”
