U.K. recorded music licensing company PPL has appointed Penny White, former head of online customer services at mass merchant Sainsbury’s, to the newly created position of head of member services.
In the role, White reports to PPL executive director Peter Leathem and is responsible for managing the collecting society’s record company services, performer services and repertoire services teams. She will also aim to enhance the customer service provided to the organization’s record company and performer members.
“Penny is a very experienced customer service professional and I am delighted that PPL will benefit from her experience of many years of providing excellent customer service in the highly competitive retail environment,” said Leathem in a statement.
During her 20-plus years with Sainsbury’s, White was involved in key strategic projects focusing on customer service, customer loyalty and change management. “I am very happy to be joining such a professional and progressive organization as PPL where customer service has such a high priority,” she added. “This is a challenging role and I’m looking forward to combining my experience with PPL’s focus to positively enhance the service delivery for all our members.”
PPL, in its 75th year of operations, has over 39,500 performer members and 3,400 record company members. In addition, the London-based company has 42 bilateral agreements with similar organizations around the world representing a further 3,400 record companies and 29,000 performers.
