Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) will officially launch her solo career with the Sept. 17 U.K. release of the single “Not Such an Innocent Girl” (Virgin) to be followed on Oct. 1 by a self-titled album.
The R&B/pop-leaning single was written by Steve Kipner and Andrew Frampton, and comes just over a year since Beckham’s first chart appearance outside the group. Posh appeared as a guest on “Out of Your Mind” by True Steppers featuring Dane Bowers; the NuLife/Arista single reached No. 2 in Britain and was certified gold for shipments of 400,000 copies.
CD and DVD editions of “Not Such an Innocent Girl” will feature remixes by Sunship and Robbie Rivera. The DVD version will also contain the video clip for the song with a photo gallery and film clips, while the CD will also include the new song “In Your Dreams.”
Virgin estimates that Beckham’s worldwide career sales with the Spice Girls total 40 million albums and 2.5 million singles. The Spice Girls’ most recent Virgin album, “Forever,” debuted at a disappointing No. 39 on The Billboard 200 last October.
