Portlandia stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein recently caught up with Billboard to chat about their creative partnership, the success of the show, and what life after the final, eighth season airs looks like for them. They also took some time to play a round of “First, Best, Last, Worst,” revealing childhood celebrity crushes and fashion mistakes they have admittedly been guilty of making.
Speaking of her first ever celebrity crush, Brownstein divulges that she liked Ricky Schroder from Silver Spoons as a kid. “Yeah, I wrote him a letter. They would give the addresses in the back of Sixteen or Bop Magazine, and I would just write. ‘Dear Ricky Schroder: I love you.’”
The duo admit to their worst wardrobe crimes, with Armisen confessing to having worn too much camouflage as a teenager, while Brownstein described her most embarrassing high school outfit. “If I had to pick a high school one,” she says, “cut-off jeans with tights underneath, red Dr. Marten combat boots, a maroon-colored flight jacket, and then a tie-dyed Ramones tee-shirt.”
The Portlandia creators also share the best advice they have ever been given, with Armisen saying, “I remember on a plane, the flight attendant told me where the exits are and what to do in an emergency.”
