David Porter, who has oversaw Wal-Mart’s music and movies efforts for the last few years, is leaving the company, Wal-Mart confirms.
Music industry sources suggest he is becoming a senior executive at one of the major movie studios, possibly related to home video and other merchandise opportunities.
Porter didn’t respond to an e-mail for comment, but a Wal-Mart spokeswoman said in an e-mail, Porter’s “career has resulted in many incredible new products and positive changes for Wal-Mart and for the entertainment industry, and he will always have many friends here. The company wishes him the very best in his next endeavors.”
