Everything we need is already here — “here” being any point between the Arctic Ocean in the north and Antarctica to the south. So says Porter Robinson, who encrypted his new album announcement with Google Maps links and latitude/longitude coordinates, as he is wont to do.
Nurture is the name of Robinson’s second solo LP. The work, “coming soon,” follows his highly influential 2014 Worlds debut, as well as his 2018 alter-ego Virtual Self’s self-titled EP. Where the second moniker homes in on hard techno and drum’n’bass, Nurture sounds like it follows Worlds‘ footsteps, leaning into floral melodies, bright textures and classical elements. A teaser posted to Twitter gives fans a snippet of first single “Get Your Wish,” slated for release Wednesday.
“I put my entire heart into this,” Robinson says. Fans are already scrambling in the comments, including fellow producers Zedd, San Holo, Cashmere Cat, Rezz, Robotaki, G Jones, Odesza, Chet Porter and others. Check Robinson’s teaser and some of his friends’ reactions below.
