LeAnn Rimes, Seal and Jewel are the first artists confirmed to take part in the Argent Mortgage Orchestrated concert series. These one-night-only events will pair contemporary recording artists with symphony orchestras to present their music in a new arrangements.
Rimes will inaugurate the series at a May 23 performance with the Boston Pops Orchestra at Boston’s Symphony Hall. “For my band and me to perform our show and my songs in new arrangements with the Boston Pops is not only flattering, but, as an artist, an amazing challenge,” Rimes says.
Seal will play a June 13 show at Minneapolis’ Orchestra Hall with the Minnesota Orchestra, while Jewel will perform with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra July 30 in Cain Park in Cleveland Heights.
As many as five additional concerts are expected in 2005 throughout the United States, with no artists expected to repeat their performances elsewhere. Frank McNamara, who has previously worked with the Irish Tenors, Roger Daltrey and Rimes, among others, has been chosen to arrange and conduct each show.
“After seeing a few bands in an intimate symphony environment over the past several years, we thought the time was right to stage a series of shows under one banner,” says Allen Shapiro, a partner in Elevation Entertainment, which is promoting the Orchestrated shows.
The three announced shows will go on sale Friday (April 15), with tickets for the Rimes event available through Boston’s Symphony Hall box office, the Seal show through Minneapolis’ Orchestra Hall box office and the Jewel concert through Ticketmaster.
